Military Avenue Reconstruction
| Bryan Boettcher welcomed a crowd of about seventy five people to the ribbon cutting ceremony for Military Avenue. Opening comments included the fact that during construction twelve businesses relocated to the street. Also the road construction did not play a factor in the three businesses that closed their doors this year. |
| Before cutting the ribbon Mayor Jim Schmitt thanked everyone involved with the project for working so well together to get the street done on time and under budget. Mayor Schmitt singled out the project as a model for how every road reconstruction project should be accomplished. |

| Alderman Brian Danzinger and Steve Deneys commended the city department of public works and businesses on working together during construction to keep the project on time and under budget. |
| After making comments to those present Greg Polacheck Chairmen of the citizen steering committee for the military avenue market analysis and cooridor design plan spoke with reporters. |
| Mayor Jim Schmitt drew the three grand prize winners out of the Trunk of a Ford Taurus provided from Broadway Automotive. The trunk included over 60,000 entry forms filled out by shoppers during construction. The prizes included a $2,500.00 diamond ring donated by Bay Area Diamond Company. A pair of airline tickets donated by Fox World Travel valued at $1,000.00 and a one year gym membership donated by Anytime Fitness valued at $553.00. |
